It's no secret that gentle strengthening exercises, relaxation techniques, and meditation are a perfect fit for tennis . Yoga, Pilates, and meditation are ubiquitous in the professional arena, but they also offer a wealth of potential benefits for recreational players, extending far beyond the tennis court. Many camp organizers have recognized this and now offer holistic tennis camps that incorporate not only tennis but also stretching, strengthening exercises, and, yes, even meditation. One such example is the MasterCamp by Patrik Kühnen at the Kalimera Kriti Hotel & Village Resort in Crete , which takes place in May.
We asked Patrik why a holistic camp experience with tennis, yoga, Pilates, and meditation can be so valuable for every participant, and how he personally practices yoga, Pilates, and meditation.

The first stop on our special series "Tennis & Culinary Delights in Carinthia" is the Hotel & Spa Sonne in St. Kanzian, on the western shore of Lake Klopein. From April to October, this family-run, 4-star hotel offers ideal conditions for a tennis holiday as a couple, with friends, or with family. Located directly on the lake, the charming hotel boasts an unforgettable panoramic view of the lake and mountains . You'll also fondly remember the delicious Alpine-Adriatic cuisine that the kitchen team conjures up daily. We asked the hotel what makes Alpine-Adriatic cuisine so special and how the tennis hotel embraces the Slow Food trend. Join us on this culinary journey of discovery. And we've even included a super tasty recipe: Enjoy trying out Carinthian salmon on white wine risotto with porcini mushrooms and bacon chips !
Today we have another review from our "In Test" series . After having the opportunity to test the DUNLOP FX 500 last fall and falling head over heels for it, I was more than eager to see how the new DUNLOP FX 500 , available since the beginning of 2023, would play. Visually, it definitely makes a better impression, as the racket comes in a fresh and almost vibrant blue. I was immediately impressed when I unpacked it! But since looks are secondary when it comes to a racket, it was time for some serious action with my son. And what can I say? The new DUNLOP FX 500 has taken things a step further compared to its already fantastic predecessor. And that's in terms of speed and control. But read on and see for yourself!
Heinz Schwarz tennis commentary "Looking Differently ," author of the book "Are You Still Playing Real Tennis or Are You Already Winning Something?", is titled "Coach Me Like Djokovic" and attempts to transfer training approaches that Heinz learned and practiced while coaching the young Novak Djokovic at the Niki Pilic Academy in Munich to training methods that can help us "average tennis players" improve.
For this transfer to succeed, coaches shouldn't try to completely overhaul the playing style and technique of experienced tennis players and tinker with them at great length. Rather, the coach's task should be to coax the best, the maximum potential, out of the existing abilities of an experienced player. Of course, Heinz also has some helpful tips for us players. And you'll learn why the "winner" isn't always the be-all and end-all.
As always, very entertainingly written - enjoy reading!

Heinz Schwarz tennis column "Looking Differently," author of the book "Are You Still Playing Real Tennis or Are You Already Winning Something?", the topic is mistakes. Yes, we all know them more than enough, right? After all, tennis is and always will be a game of errors. But why do we squander points we thought were in the bag, why do we leave 100% chances hanging in the net or against the fence? A technical error is quickly found as the explanation: too little spin, not closing the racket properly, and whatever other brilliant excuse we can think of. Heinz debunks the notion that all the mistakes you make have something to do with technique in his column titled " Not Everything That Goes Wrong in Tennis Is a Technical Error ." Learn why distance errors and motivational errors are frequent sources of error, especially in amateur and recreational tennis, and how you can combat them.
As always, very entertainingly written – enjoy!

It is a particular pleasure for us to have Heinz Schwarz , author of the book "Are You Still Playing Real Tennis or Are You Already Winning Something?" , for a highly entertaining commentary. Under the title "Looking at It Differently," Heinz will present his unique perspective on the topic of "Real Tennis" in a three-part series.
"The idea of 'proper' tennis, which clearly dominates our industry, is not a closed scientific system but rather a tennis coach folklore passed down from one generation to the next, and which, let's not hide the fact, is also expected by the client. However, this system is designed in such a way that, in addition to its undeniable, albeit often less spectacular, main effects (as suggested by commercial interests), it inherently produces many irritations and a great deal of stress as side effects – among the students, the teachers, between the teachers and the students, and among the teachers themselves," says Heinz.
"Looking at It Differently" is therefore primarily about perhaps better balancing the main and side effects of the desired and intended image of "proper tennis." New ideas, perspectives, and very practical examples will surely inspire you! Let's start with part one, entitled "Two Tennis Coaches - Three Opinions." Enjoy reading!
