Today we have another review from our "In Test" series . After having the opportunity to test the DUNLOP FX 500 last fall and falling head over heels for it, I was more than eager to see how the new DUNLOP FX 500 , available since the beginning of 2023, would play. Visually, it definitely makes a better impression, as the racket comes in a fresh and almost vibrant blue. I was immediately impressed when I unpacked it! But since looks are secondary when it comes to a racket, it was time for some serious action with my son. And what can I say? The new DUNLOP FX 500 has taken things a step further compared to its already fantastic predecessor. And that's in terms of speed and control. But read on and see for yourself!

Although I generally prefer stiffer frames, the slightly more flexible frame of the new DUNLOP FX 500 really impressed me compared to its predecessor. This gives the racket even more comfort and an overall "softer" feel . What's just as brilliant as with the previous model is that, in my opinion, the racket is simply a perfect blend of power, spin, and speed with a great deal of comfort.
This racket supports a fast-paced, aggressive style of play. Its high level of comfort makes it easy to return powerful shots from your opponent – either with equal counter-pressure or with stable, spin-heavy shots from a defensive position. Generally, the racket is quite forgiving of shots outside the sweet spot and doesn't immediately cause racket wobble.
I strung the racket with DUNLOP Explosive Speed (1.3mm) at 25 kg. The round premium monofilament polyester string is a really good match for the racket and enhances its characteristics for more speed and power.
The Power Boost Nut, integrated into the eyelet system, increases the sweet spot by increasing string movement.
The grommet system in the 2023 racket has been redesigned to return even more energy to the string bed. This results in increased spin!
The new material from KURARAYPLASTICS CO. LTD offers high elasticity and vibration-damping properties thanks to a high-performance thermoplastic elastomer mixture in the shaft.
This highly elastic material dampens the impact and frame vibrations by up to 37% – for a more comfortable feel and a lower risk of injury.
Power Grid String Tech creates a 30 percent larger sweet spot for evenly distributed power. This allows today's generation of players to hit the ball higher on the racket.
The new DUNLOP FX50 surpasses its predecessor in terms of playing characteristics and is a perfect, even more balanced racket, ideal for my powerful baseline game. A fantastic racket for all technically skilled (tournament) players who like to play aggressively but also value comfort, feel, and spin. An all-around excellent racket. And as the icing on the cake, it comes in a gorgeous blue!
