Don't jump and move! Two instructions that were repeated again and again on day three of the intensive camp at the Ljubicic Tennis Academy in Veli Lošinj. Coach Darko had identified two areas for improvement in Tom's game: less jumping while hitting and less constant movement. This was the focus of work today – with success! On Wednesdays, the Academy only trains in the mornings, so after the morning fitness session and 1.5 hours of tennis, the day was over. Wednesday afternoons are for recovery, giving us time to explore the beautiful island. Among other places, we visited Mali Lošinj , which is located on the opposite side of the island. You can read about today's sporting and tourist activities in part three of our camp diary.
Day two of the intensive camp at the Ljubicic Tennis Academy in Veli Lošinj. The training schedule was the same as on the first day. After a hearty breakfast, we headed to the Ljubicic Tennis Academy gym at the Punta Vitality Hotel for an hour-long warm-up with fitness coach Oskar Amančić. All the kids were highly motivated, and that remained the case throughout the entire day. The second day of training ended at 5:30 p.m. And despite some initial tiredness, Tom is still going strong! You can read all about what happened and what I learned in my detailed conversation with head coach Luka Cvjetković , Jannik Sinner's long-time tour coach, in my second camp diary entry. Enjoy!
After arriving here on the beautiful island of Lošinj last Saturday and enjoying two days of vacation and settling in at our camp hotel, the Punta Vitality Hotel 's intensive camp at the Ljubicic Tennis Academy started today at 8 a.m. Excited and full of motivation, he headed towards the fitness room with his tennis gear packed. And let me tell you, the first day of camp, with perfect tennis weather, was quite an experience.
We quite spontaneously decided to go to Croatia, to the island of Lošinj, for Easter. The deciding factor was the Ljubicic Tennis Academy , which has been located in Veli Lošinj since 2021. Our son Tom will be participating in an intensive training program there. A week of pure tennis and fitness – that's what's on the agenda. The academy's motto, "BE YOUR BEST," will also be Tom's motto: giving it his all and having fun. He's already excited about everything that awaits him on and off the tennis courts. The rest of the family is also really looking forward to experiencing the "Vitality Island" with its beauty and healing climate, playing a bit of tennis, and enjoying a holiday.
5 days of intensive training and you can follow the daily camp life and much more via our camp diary - not quite live, but almost, and with lots of sound, text and in color!
Training, match practice, and nutrition are three key success factors in tennis . With Orthomol Sport, we have a strong partner at our side when it comes to providing athletes with essential nutrients. Admittedly, the market for sports supplements is quite large and confusing, making it not so easy to find the right product.
This year, we've therefore decided to shed some light on the subject and clarify for whom and when dietary supplements make sense. Today, we're starting by introducing you to the Orthomol Sport drinkable bottle, a true all-rounder when it comes to supplements.
Playing tennis and studying at a US college is a dream for many young tennis players. To make this dream a reality, many US universities offer tennis scholarships. With this substantial financial support, countless tennis players from around the world are able to fulfill their dream of playing college tennis each year. But who can actually apply for a tennis scholarship at a US college ? How does it all work? And there are countless other questions that my husband and I had at the beginning of the year when our daughter Mia unexpectedly expressed her desire to study and play college tennis in the USA.
Over the next few months, we'll be taking you along on Mia's journey to US college . This will give you an idea of everything that needs to be done, considered, and prepared—both as a future student-athlete and as a parent. In the first part of our series, we'll tell you how Mia's wish to attend college came about, how we took the first steps, and what decisions have already been made. Let's just
say this much: it's been an incredibly exciting start!
It's no secret that gentle strengthening exercises, relaxation techniques, and meditation are a perfect fit for tennis . Yoga, Pilates, and meditation are ubiquitous in the professional arena, but they also offer a wealth of potential benefits for recreational players, extending far beyond the tennis court. Many camp organizers have recognized this and now offer holistic tennis camps that incorporate not only tennis but also stretching, strengthening exercises, and, yes, even meditation. One such example is the MasterCamp by Patrik Kühnen at the Kalimera Kriti Hotel & Village Resort in Crete , which takes place in May.
We asked Patrik why a holistic camp experience with tennis, yoga, Pilates, and meditation can be so valuable for every participant, and how he personally practices yoga, Pilates, and meditation.

Today we have another review from our "In Test" series . After having the opportunity to test the DUNLOP FX 500 last fall and falling head over heels for it, I was more than eager to see how the new DUNLOP FX 500 , available since the beginning of 2023, would play. Visually, it definitely makes a better impression, as the racket comes in a fresh and almost vibrant blue. I was immediately impressed when I unpacked it! But since looks are secondary when it comes to a racket, it was time for some serious action with my son. And what can I say? The new DUNLOP FX 500 has taken things a step further compared to its already fantastic predecessor. And that's in terms of speed and control. But read on and see for yourself!
Heinz Schwarz tennis commentary "Looking Differently ," author of the book "Are You Still Playing Real Tennis or Are You Already Winning Something?", is titled "Coach Me Like Djokovic" and attempts to transfer training approaches that Heinz learned and practiced while coaching the young Novak Djokovic at the Niki Pilic Academy in Munich to training methods that can help us "average tennis players" improve.
For this transfer to succeed, coaches shouldn't try to completely overhaul the playing style and technique of experienced tennis players and tinker with them at great length. Rather, the coach's task should be to coax the best, the maximum potential, out of the existing abilities of an experienced player. Of course, Heinz also has some helpful tips for us players. And you'll learn why the "winner" isn't always the be-all and end-all.
As always, very entertainingly written - enjoy reading!
