How does my child get a tennis scholarship at a US college? What do we as parents need to consider? How can we best support our child in this multifaceted process, from the initial vague idea to the concrete step across the pond? These are just some of the questions we suddenly found ourselves asking in 2023 when our daughter Mia expressed her wish to go to the USA on a tennis scholarship after graduating from high school. I wrote a five-part series on our blog about her journey, documenting how Mia, and especially we as parents, experienced the entire application process right up to her departure. Currently, we're preparing everything for our son Tom's stay at college in Alabama in the summer of 2025. And that presents some new challenges as well!

This year, our partner HEAD is celebrating a very special anniversary: 75 years of HEAD. 75 years full of innovation and triumphs. And it all started not with a tennis racket, but with the very first metal ski with a sandwich construction, developed by Howard Head in the USA in 1947. With this, he revolutionized the ski market. Tennis came into the picture in 1968 when a "tennis division" was established within the company. And just one year later, the first metal tennis racket used at the US Open. Another innovation and a small revolution in tennis. Today, HEAD is a ubiquitous tennis brand, trusted by so many tennis professionals. Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, Novak Djokovic, Coco Gauff, Karolina Muchova – the list could go on and on with absolute top stars. It's also interesting to note that many technological innovations are conceived not far from us. Kennelbach near Bregenz is HEAD's innovation hub. We're excited to see what innovations will emerge there in the future. We're sure there will be quite a few. HAPPY BIRTHDAY HEAD! And of course, to celebrate the anniversary, HEAD is 12 unique prizes , including a Gravity Racket signed by Sascha Zverev.

Our last TennisTravellerexclusive camp of 2024 was another absolute camp highlight! Under the motto "Tennis ON FIRE," we were guests at the Hotel zum Mohren in Reutte, Tyrol, from November 14th to 17th, 2024. The participants were certainly on fire during the three-day tennis training with Pro Tennisschool, led by Andreas Gerstgrasser and myself. Things really heated up during the cardio tennis sessions, which had everyone sweating profusely and created a great atmosphere, but also some sore muscles. But that wasn't all: we also put together a wonderful, "hot" program of activities off the court. The camp was timed to coincide perfectly with one of Reutte's biggest event highlights. We rocked out at the opening of "Reutte on Ice" at Ehrenberg Castle on opening day, LuMagica and enjoyed a gourmet menu with wine pairings at the hotel. All in all, another truly special exclusive camp that all participants thoroughly enjoyed. And just like in the previous exclusive camps, we were a wonderful group, had lots to talk about and laugh about – we were practically always "ON FIRE". You can read all about what that was like during the four days of camp, and what we experienced, in my travel report here. The excellent feedback from the participants was a huge hit with the hotel, the Pro Tennis School, and of course, me!
Reducing pain with a small patch – is that even possible? To be honest, that was my first thought when Torsten told me about SuperPatches. But the more detailed his explanation of how the patches work, the more intrigued I became. Non-invasive and drug-free pain relief makes perfect sense to me, especially compared to taking painkillers. SuperPatches are designed to positively support and influence various areas through tactile stimulation. There are not only pain patches, but a total of 12 different SuperPatches to enhance performance and well-being. In my interview with Torsten Bonacker , you'll learn how SuperPatches work, where and how they are used, and why they might be particularly interesting for us tennis players. And of course, we couldn't leave out the self-test and our personal conclusion about the product. Since we're introducing SuperPatches to you here and now, you'd be absolutely right to assume that we gave them a thumbs up. Intrigued now? Then keep reading – enjoy!
It is a great pleasure and honor for us to introduce you to Dr. Sebastian Altfeld, our new mental expert . Sebastian is a sports psychologist and psychotherapist who supports various competitive and professional athletes from different sports in dealing with performance pressure, stress, and high demands. "Performing when conditions aren't optimal" and "be comfortable to feel uncomfortable" are his mottos. In the interview, you'll learn more about Sebastian, typical stressful situations in tennis, and how you can cope with them. Sebastian is also the co-developer of the online program Ready2Perform, which we'll briefly introduce in the interview. We are convinced that this program will help you improve your skills in handling pressure, not just in tennis. We are very much looking forward to working with Sebastian on many more mental topics for you in the future. Because no matter your level: mental strength is so important!
