Training on the third day of the tennis camp with the European Tennis Academy in Naturns started at 8:30 a.m. today. Although the sun was shining, it was still quite cold. Therefore, the team decided to hold the first session indoors.
Today's training session should focus on the serve and return – two shots without which a victory is hardly possible. And despite this knowledge, they are practiced far too little in so many training sessions – especially the return.
The weather wasn't exactly on our side today for the start of training on day two of the tennis camp with the European Tennis Academy . Since it was only 8 degrees Celsius at 10 a.m. and an icy wind was blowing, coach Alex decided to move the training session indoors. It was great that this was possible – the beautiful and bright four-court hall with carpet and granules is, of course, perfectly suited for this.
After a warm-up with ball coordination exercises, the kids were not only warmed up but also completely focused. Today's focus was on "Minimizing Unforced Errors - Gaining More Confidence ." Relaxed practice on a small court with directional instructions went quite well, with no errors, and the goal was to return three balls at least 60 times.
Day 1 at the tennis camp with the European Tennis Academy in Naturns, South Tyrol. The sun was indeed shining at the start of training, but the temperatures weren't exactly spring-like. However, this didn't dampen the good spirits of the three motivated young tennis players at the start of the camp.
Alex greeted the kids and they started with a relaxed warm-up on the small court. Even during the warm-up from the baseline, two key points established: exhaling while hitting and smoothly following through the hit to the final position . The children were to concentrate on these two points from now on.

Last year I was near Darmstadt with two of our children – the kids participated in the Waske Tennis Academy's Easter camp for five days. It was a fantastic and intensive week that we can highly recommend to every child and teenager.

Last week at the DTB performance center in Stuttgart-Stammheim, I had the opportunity to not only record two Tabata workouts with our coach Mike Diehl for your preseason training, but also to ask Mike about the importance of strength training in tennis. So, let's get started!
Small but mighty – that's how you could describe working with resistance bands. Our coach, Mike Diehl, is a huge fan of these bands, as they're portable and offer maximum effectiveness in your workouts. That's why we've integrated two additional exercises with the Deuser band into this second tennis Tabata session. A challenging workout that will give you the strength and stability you need for the clay court season.
