Winning and enjoying – two things that, in my opinion, are mutually dependent. Especially when we're on a tennis holiday. Therefore, the motto of the TennisTraveller exclusive camp on Lake Constance in February was aptly chosen. The perfect location for this camp theme was quickly found in the Ringhotel Krone Schnetzenhausen ; after all, this family-run hotel near Friedrichshafen is renowned far beyond the region for its excellent cuisine and warm hospitality. The Power the Ball tennis school tasked with providing the necessary "winning" on the court, with my support as a side coach. Whether and how we were able to put winning and enjoyment into practice during the four days of camp, you can read about here in words and pictures. Suffice it to say, it was simply a fantastic weekend with top marks from our participants!
A get-together at the piano bar – a successful start to the camp
Even on the drive to Lake Constance on Thursday, with its snow-covered mountains, I thought to myself: what a beautiful spot Lake Constance is! I already knew from my visit two years ago that the Ringhotel Krone Schnetzenhausen near Friedrichshafen is a lovely place for a tennis holiday. This time, too, I received a warm welcome and was able to settle into my beautiful room. The brimming welcome bags for the camp participants were immediately distributed by the efficient housekeeping staff. A huge thank you again to our partners HEAD and Orthomol for providing the fantastic giveaways. And of course, our bright orange TennisTraveller water bottle was also included in the bags.
At 6 p.m., I invited our 11 participants to the cozy tiled stove in the piano bar for a get-together . It was a truly exciting moment, as the participants were so diverse! The group quickly began chatting and laughing – the atmosphere was wonderful! The first dinner together and the subsequent visit to the Kronenbar immediately created a fantastic atmosphere.
Motivated to the core, they went to the tennis court
After a delicious and hearty breakfast, the first group set off at 9 a.m. in the hotel's tennis hall. Axel, the tennis coach from the Power the Ball Tennis Academy, immediately led the first exercises. Axel and I each trained the participants on two courts – very intensively and individually. The focus that day was on the basic strokes. These were practiced for 1.5 hours in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon using various drills and games – always interspersed with tactical and technical tips. The atmosphere on the courts was fantastic – everyone was highly motivated!
At 3 p.m., the tennis rackets were put aside. JJ, the South African athletics coach of the tennis academy, put the group through their paces with an intense HIIT circuit training session, making them sweat even more. A cooldown with stretching was, of course, a must at the end.
For relaxation, many then headed to the hotel's beautiful spa area with its sauna and large indoor pool . At 7 p.m., everyone was looking forward to the fantastic meal. Our two vegetarians, in particular, were thrilled with the vegetarian menu! But even the meat and fish eaters enjoyed the many courses in a simply wonderful setting. Refreshed, we then went down to the bowling alley , where we gave it our all once again and had a great time! And some of us actually managed a perfect nine!
Training, physiotherapy and a guided wine tasting - what a benefit and pleasure!
On Saturday, we started training again at 9 a.m.: Serves, returns, and volleys were the focus today. Everything was presented in short drills and many match-oriented exercises. Axel and I, like the participants, were highly motivated – there was a great atmosphere on the court!
After the last training session, we headed to the seminar room where Dobri, the tennis academy's physiotherapist and osteopath, was waiting for us. We learned that the best way to prevent injuries is to have a body in balance. Since, unfortunately, very few of us are actually in balance, Dobri showed us, using a concrete example, how imbalances can be corrected. It was incredible what he could achieve with just a few simple adjustments. A lively discussion with many helpful recommendations rounded off the physiotherapy session .

Our group was incredibly harmonious at our final dinner. Not only did the delicious seven-course meal await us once again, but the restaurant manager and sommelier also accompanied our culinary experience with a wonderful Lake Constance wine tasting . His fascinating explanations about the growing regions and the producers added the perfect finishing touch to the enjoyment. A thoroughly successful evening with excellent food, superb wines, and such a warm and welcoming atmosphere then came to a fitting close in the Kronenbar.
Sunday marked the final day: the last training session. Participants refined their skills, practiced match-oriented drills, and played various doubles exercises. Around midday, there were many heartfelt farewells. The participants then set off for home, returning to Switzerland, Baden, Hesse, Munich, or Swabia. What remains, besides the intensive training sessions, numerous new sporting experiences, and delicious food, are undoubtedly the wonderful encounters and conversations with one another.
Simply fantastic feedback – the greatest reward for us hosts!
To give us a comprehensive overview of how our camp participants experienced the camp, they received feedback along with a selection of photos after the camp. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, which of course made me very happy!
My sincere thanks go to Axel, JJ, Dobri, and Diana Möller, as well as the entire team at the Krone Schnetzenhausen ! Only through excellent teamwork could the camp have become what it ultimately was: an absolute camp highlight with plenty of rewards and enjoyment!
" Thank you for the wonderful camp! Everything was simply fantastic and perfectly organized!
I will definitely be back! "
