Our last TennisTraveller exclusive camp of 2024 was another absolute camp highlight! Under the motto "Tennis ON FIRE," we were guests at the Hotel zum Mohren in Reutte, Tyrol, from November 14th to 17th, 2024. The participants were certainly on fire during the three-day tennis training with Pro Tennisschool, led by Andreas Gerstgrasser and myself. Things really heated up during the cardio tennis sessions, which had everyone sweating profusely and created a great atmosphere, but also some sore muscles. But that wasn't all: we also put together a wonderful, "hot" program of activities off the court. The camp was timed to coincide perfectly with one of Reutte's biggest event highlights. We rocked out at the opening of "Reutte on Ice" LuMagica at Ehrenberg Castle on opening day, and enjoyed a gourmet menu with wine pairings at the hotel. All in all, another truly special exclusive camp that all participants thoroughly enjoyed. And just like in the previous exclusive camps, we were a wonderful group, had lots to talk about and laugh about – we were practically always "ON FIRE". You can read all about what that was like during the four days of camp, and what we experienced, in my travel report here. The excellent feedback from the participants was a huge hit with the hotel, the Pro Tennis School, and of course, me!
Out of the fog, into the sunshine in the Reutte nature park region
Off to the sun – that doesn't always have to mean heading south for warmth. Not only was our exclusive camp themed "Tennis ON Fire," but I was already "on fire" on arrival day when, after days of persistent fog, I drove through the border tunnel near Füssen towards Reutte, and the sun shone like a picture postcard. Packing the welcome bags at the hotel was quick and easy, leaving time before the evening get-together for a short walk along the Lech River and a quick visit to the tennis hall.
In the evening, our group met for a welcome drink . After a brief introduction from our coach, Andreas Gerstgrasser, and an overview of the planned program, we quickly went to dinner. It soon became clear that we had once again gathered a group of very, very nice and open tennis players, all looking forward to four fantastic days of tennis. I was particularly pleased this time that we already had our first repeat participant – at only the fourth exclusive camp ever! The concept is definitely a success!
There are no problems, only solutions – the training concept of the Pro Tennis School
On Friday and Saturday, we trained for a total of 2.5 hours per group, both in the morning and afternoon. On Sunday, another 1.5 hours of training per group was scheduled. Andreas had put together a well-thought-out program for the camp, which, in addition to drills, included game-oriented exercises. Solutions and concepts were always presented and demonstrated visually for each training block. Existing problems with various shots were addressed with solutions that were directly applicable to everyone. These concepts led to several "aha!" moments every day. Exactly what you should take home from such a short camp: not just technical training, but solution-oriented instructions and recommendations that will enable each participant to better master their "problem shots" and "problem situations.".
A definite highlight was the cardio workout with Jürgen on Saturday afternoon. We went all out for an hour to hot beats, sweating and running hard. Our heart rates were through the roof, but everyone had a blast! The final "Jamaica game" provided plenty of fun and entertainment!
Hot beats, a sea of lights and culinary delights - a perfect supporting program
On Friday evening, right after our delicious dinner, an absolute highlight awaited us: the opening of Reutte on Ice. The entire village square had been transformed into a large open-air arena, beautifully illuminated all around, including the lovely ice skating rink. The main act of the evening was Beatrice Egli. But the DJs also really got the party going. Our camp hotel was ideal for the evening, as it was located right next to the village square. This allowed some of us to warm up in the hotel or to sit down at the cozy bar a little earlier.
Saturday evening was a bit quieter, but no less exciting, as we headed to Ehrenberg Castle in the dark before dinner. There, LuMagica was unveiled – a series of beautiful light installations that transformed the entire castle ruins into a sea of lights. Back at the hotel, we were treated to a five-course meal with wine pairings – an absolute culinary delight that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
Speaking of enjoyment: we had plenty of that at our camp hotel throughout our entire stay. Beautiful rooms, a fantastic breakfast buffet that provided the perfect fuel for the day's activities. Delicious meals in the evening and a lovely bar where we relaxed every night. Not to mention the beautiful spa area and the indoor pool, which provided relaxation for many and was the perfect way to prevent sore muscles.
As with previous camps, the feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive
To give us a comprehensive understanding of how our camp participants experienced the camp, they received feedback along with a selection of photos after the camp. The feedback was once again excellent, which of course made me very happy!
My sincere thanks go to Andreas Gerstgarsser from the ProTennisschool and his team, our host Roland Ruepp and his team at the Hotel zum Mohren , and Sandra Schneider from the Reutte Tourist Office ! We had a wonderful time with you all – THANK YOU 😍
