"Tennis, Bike & More" – this was the motto of our TennisTraveller exclusive camp from September 24th to 28th, 2025, at the Brennseehof tennis hotel in Carinthia. And of course, the five camp days were filled with lots of tennis, a fantastic mountain bike tour, and a whole lot more. A variety of side events, such as the fun asphalt curling competition, the moonlight sauna, and a culinary night with a gala dinner, were on the program. Our camp participants, who traveled from four different countries, were also able to experience that certain "more" at the Brennseehof hotel : whether through various activity programs or in the beautiful wellness area. And just like in the previous exclusive camps, we were a wonderful group, had lots to talk about and laugh about. And, of course, we also practiced a lot on the tennis court. You can find out more about the well-thought-out program over the five camp days and what we experienced in my travel report. The Brennseehof, the Krainer Sports School with Coach Petar, and of course, me, are particularly pleased with the excellent feedback from participants!
Get-together & curling - a successful start to the camp at Brennseehof
Right on time at 6 p.m., all the camp participants gathered in high spirits at the bar for a get-together. Erland Palle, owner of the Brennseehof, Karin from the Krainer Sports School, and I welcomed the tennis enthusiasts, some of whom had traveled very far, from the Netherlands, Switzerland, and all over Germany – from Berlin to Bavaria. It was especially wonderful to welcome back some familiar faces from our previous exclusive camps. A testament to the success of our exclusive camp format!
As is typical for tennis players, we hit it off immediately, and over a delicious dinner, there was already some lively (tennis) conversation. After dinner, we headed to the asphalt curling rink in front of the house. After the rules were explained, the fun began. Divided into two teams, we battled for every point just like on a tennis court, and there was a lot of laughter. Since we all did quite well, our "coach," Herrmann, rewarded us with a "house schnapps" – cheers! At the bar, the game was analyzed in detail, and then it was time for bed. The first day of training was calling!
Wonderful start to training in sunshine and excellent pitch conditions
During my hearty breakfast, I could hardly believe my eyes: the sun and blue sky were peeking out from behind the low-lying clouds. Incredible after two days of continuous rain. But when tennis angels travel...
The first two training groups started at 9 a.m. Petar, our coach from the Krainer Sports School, led the warm-up. Afterwards, we got down to business on two training courts. Petar and I worked with the camp participants on their basic stroke technique, and then immediately put what they had learned into practice in various game situations. The next two training groups arrived at 10:30 a.m. Before the second, one-hour training session in the afternoon, we were able to enjoy the buffet at the hotel. The hotel offers truly excellent service, especially with the complimentary non-alcoholic drinks from the juice bar, which we could help ourselves to all day.
To recover after training, most headed to the sauna – perfect for relaxation. Claudio's sauna infusions were a particular hit – a perfect spectacle of music and dance! Some, however, weren't quite ready to call it a day: they played some singles and doubles on the numerous courts, hit the treadmill in the gym, or went for a swim. We certainly had a very sporty group! At 7 p.m., we met for dinner – once again, a delicious meal. Only a few could muster the energy for the moonlight infusion at 10 p.m. in the beautiful lakeside sauna. For many, the bar or their beds were the preferred choice.
Get on your bike, climb the mountain and experience moments of summit bliss
On Friday morning, the tennis racket could finally rest, as a guided e-bike tour with the Krainer Sports School was on the agenda. We set off on top-of-the-line e-bikes, first heading to a practice track right next to the hotel, where the guide gave us a crash course in the most important basics of mountain biking. And then we were off: 800 meters straight uphill to the Rieserhütte mountain hut, where we sat together in a cozy, rustic room. And where I ate one of the best Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancakes) ever! Afterwards, we rode the same route back down the mountain, past fantastic viewpoints, back to the Brennsee lake, where everyone arrived safe and sound.
In the afternoon, there was another hour-long training session on the tennis court, which everyone mastered perfectly. Another highlight of the day was the Culinary Night, a five-course gala dinner with the theme "From Deer to Lake." Each course was accompanied by presentations from the hotel manager, Erland, the local fish farmer, and a wine expert. A wonderful culinary experience where one could not only enjoy the food but also learn a great deal about the region.
Great atmosphere and lots of learning during training with the Krainer Sports School
Saturday, like the first day, featured two training sessions. Sunday morning saw only one longer training session. Over the four days of training, much was learned and improved, all with great enjoyment and fun, and always under dry weather!
We had tons of fun and enjoyment during the camp. Perhaps, and especially, because we came from very different countries and regions with very different dialects, and ranged in age from 31 to 68. A truly diverse group! So there was always plenty to talk about and discover off the tennis court as well – simply fascinating! And above all, there was our shared passion for tennis!
Naturally, the Brennseehof, our camp hotel, contributed significantly to the success of the event: beautiful rooms, fantastic food from morning till night, and a lovely bar where we relaxed every evening. Not to forget the wonderful spa area, which provided many with ultimate relaxation and was perfect for preventing sore muscles.
As with previous camps, the feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive
To give us a comprehensive understanding of how our camp participants experienced the camp, they received feedback along with a selection of photos after the camp. The feedback was once again excellent, which of course made me very happy!
My sincere thanks go to Erland Palle and the entire Brennseehof team – you're doing a fantastic job! And of course, a big thank you to the Krainer Sports School, especially Petar, who led the tennis coaching. We had a wonderful time with you all – THANK YOU 😍
