"Tennis, Bike & More" – this was the motto of our TennisTraveller exclusive camp from September 24th to 28th, 2025, at the Brennseehof tennis hotel in Carinthia. And of course, the five camp days were filled with lots of tennis, a fantastic mountain bike tour, and a whole lot more. A variety of side events, such as the fun asphalt curling competition, the moonlight sauna, and a culinary night with a gala dinner, were on the program. Our camp participants, who traveled from four different countries, were also able to experience that certain "more" at the Brennseehof hotel : whether through various activity programs or in the beautiful wellness area. And just like in the previous exclusive camps, we were a wonderful group, had lots to talk about and laugh about. And, of course, we also practiced a lot on the tennis court. You can find out more about the well-thought-out program over the five camp days and what we experienced in my travel report. The Brennseehof, the Krainer Sports School with Coach Petar, and of course, me, are particularly pleased with the excellent feedback from participants!
Get together & curling - a successful camp start at Brennseehof
At 6 p.m. sharp, all camp participants gathered at the bar for a get-together in a great mood. Erland Palle, manager of the Brennseehof, Karin from the Krainer Sports School, and I welcomed the tennis enthusiasts, some of whom had traveled very far, from the Netherlands, Switzerland, and all parts of Germany – from Berlin to Bavaria. It was especially nice to welcome returning participants from our previous exclusive camps. A sign that we have created a wonderful format with our exclusive camp!
As is typical for tennis players, we hit it off right away, and over a delicious dinner, we had lively (tennis) conversations. After dinner, we went to the asphalt ice rink in front of the house. After the rules were explained to us, the wild ride began. Divided into two teams, we fought for every point just like on the tennis court, laughing a lot. Since we all did quite well, our "coach" Herrmann rewarded us with a "house schnapps" – cheers! At the bar, we analyzed the match in detail again, and then it was time for bed. The first day of training was calling!
Wonderful start to training in sunshine and perfect course conditions
During a hearty breakfast, I could hardly believe my eyes: the sun and the blue sky peeped through the low clouds. Unbelievable after two days of constant rain. But when tennis angels travel...
The first two training groups started training at 9 a.m. Petar, our coach from the Krainer Sports School, led the warm-up. Afterward, we moved on to two training courts. Petar and I worked with the camp participants on the technique of basic strokes, immediately putting what we had learned into practice in various game formats. The next two training groups arrived at 10:30 a.m. Before the second, one-hour training session in the afternoon, we were able to fortify ourselves at the hotel buffet. The hotel offers truly excellent service, especially with the free non-alcoholic drinks from the juice bar, which we were able to enjoy throughout the day.
To unwind after training, most people headed to the sauna – perfect for relaxation. Claudio's sauna infusions were particularly popular – a perfect symphony of music and dance! A few, however, hadn't quite had enough of the sport: they played a few singles and doubles games on the plentiful courts, used the treadmill in the gym, or swam. We had a very sporty group there! At 7 p.m. we met for dinner – again, the food was delicious. Only a few could bring themselves to go for the moonlight infusion at 10 p.m. in the beautiful Seekino sauna. The bar or even bed were the first choice for many.
Get on your bike, climb the mountain and experience moments of summit happiness
On Friday morning, the tennis rackets could be put to rest for a while, as a guided e-bike tour with the Krainer Sports School was scheduled. On top-of-the-line e-bikes, we first set off on a practice route right next to the hotel, where the guide gave us a crash course in the most important basics of mountain biking. And then we were off: 800 meters straight up to the Rieserhütte, where we sat comfortably together in a rustic parlor. And where I ate one of the best Kaiserschmarrn (sweet pancakes) ever! Afterwards, we headed back down the mountain the same way, past fantastic viewpoints, and back to Lake Brennsee, where everyone arrived safe and sound.
In the afternoon, there was a one-hour training session on the tennis court, which everyone mastered brilliantly. Another highlight of the day was the Culinary Night, a five-course gala dinner with the theme "From Deer to the Lake." All courses were accompanied by presentations from hotel manager Erland, the local fish farmer, and a wine expert. A wonderful culinary experience where you could not only enjoy yourself but also learn a lot about the region.
Great atmosphere and lots of learnings during training with the Krainer sports school
On Saturday, just like on the first day, two training sessions were scheduled. On Sunday, there was only one longer training session in the morning. A lot was learned and improved during the four days of training, with lots of fun and enjoyment, and the weather was consistently dry!
We had a lot of fun and enjoyment during the camp. Perhaps, or perhaps precisely because we came from very different countries and regions with very different dialects, and our ages ranged from 31 to 68. A truly diverse group! So there was always plenty to share and discover off the court as well – simply exciting! And above all, our shared passion for tennis!
Naturally, the Brennseehof, our camp hotel, played a huge role in the success of the event: beautiful rooms, great food from morning to night, and a lovely bar where we relaxed every evening. Not to mention the beautiful wellness area, which provided many with the ultimate relaxation and was the perfect way to prevent sore muscles.
As in the previous camps, there was nothing but great feedback from the participants
To ensure we could hear in detail how our camp participants experienced the camp, they were given the opportunity to provide feedback after the camp, along with a lovely selection of photos. The overall review was once again excellent, which, of course, made me very happy!
My sincere thanks go to Erland Palle and the entire Brennseehof team – you're really doing a fantastic job! And of course, to the Krainer Sports School, especially Petar, who led the tennis coaching team. We had a fantastic time with you – THANK YOU 😍
