Premiere as the International German Indoor Championships
From October 27th to November 4th, 2018, the traditional event in the tranquil Eckental near Erlangen will take place for the 22nd time. This year the tournament was given the title “International German Indoor Championships” . A recognition from the German Tennis Association that rightly honors
tournament director Marcus Slany Over two decades of top tennis with many young talents who, such as Maximilian Marterer, were able to use the tournament as a perfect springboard to the top in the world. It is still unclear whether the defending champion from 2017 will also play in Eckental this year.
Top tennis is inevitable
Open your eyes and sharpen your perspective - this is a must when visiting the 22nd Challengers Eckental. Because so far the starting field promises once again outstanding top tennis indoors - fast and furious!
Four top 100 players with Guillermo Garcia-Lopez (ATP 77), Lukas Lacko (ATP 80), Hubert Hurkacz (ATP 93) and Ilya Ivashka (ATP 99) are on the entry list. Other well-known tennis stars are Marcos Baghdatis, the Belgian Ruben Bemelmanns and the Latvian Ernest Gulbis. With Yannick Maden, Matthias Bachinger and Mats Moraing, there are now three Germans in the main field, which is overall better filled than ever before. Other German players such as Daniel Brands will try to successfully fight their way through qualification.

Together with our friendly tennis start-ups dropshot , LOVE:40 , and Wingfield.io, we are once again pushing hard away from the courts and are proudly and fully motivated to present ourselves to the expert Eckental tennis audience. Small but powerful – that’s our motto!
Tournament director Marcus Slany will once again put together interesting and varied supporting program For example, on Friday, November 2nd at 8 p.m., the exceptional Franconian cabaret artist Bernd Regenauer rock the stage.
