Padel Special: Insights from Torsten Bonacker of Dunlop

Among them are several people who have been involved in the sport for a long time and can therefore offer valuable recommendations and expert insights. First up is Torsten Bonacker, Marketing Communications Manager at Dunlop . We asked him which padel products Dunlop manufactures, what personally fascinates him about the sport, and how he assesses the current padel boom in Germany. Since when has Dunlop offered padel products?
We've been offering padel products for many years. The sport has long been particularly popular in Spain, where it's on par with tennis. We're perceived as a padel brand, not least because Dunlop "invented" the padel ball. Compared to a tennis ball, it's slightly smaller and doesn't bounce as high.

Do you play padel yourself? What fascinates you about the sport?
I've only just started. What I find particularly appealing is that players of different skill levels can have a lot of fun together. When my wife and I are on the court with the kids, we all have a great time. It's also important to mention that non-tennis players can really enjoy it too.

How do you assess the current padel boom in Germany? How and in what form do you think padel will establish itself?
In my opinion, the padel boom in Germany is unstoppable, and that's a good thing. If even more padel courts become available, the growth curve will rise exponentially.
