Travel report from our travel scout Amrei at the Bluesun Grand Hotel Elaphusa tennis hotel in Croatia
Our travel scout Amrei had a tough choice to make in February: as our Mediterranean travel scout, she had to choose between a week at the Ali Bey Resort in Turkey or the Bluesun Grand Hotel Elaphusa tennis hotel on the island of Brač in Croatia. Both are wonderful destinations offered by Patricio Travel , who made this travel scout giveaway possible. Amrei recently visited Croatia this summer with her tennis-playing friend Nadine and sent us a lovely travel report with fantastic photos. Let yourself be whisked away for a moment...
Our travel scout Amrei writes about her tennis holiday....
"The journey from Munich was incredibly easy and quick! With a flight and a direct ferry from the airport to Bol, it really was a breeze. Arriving at the hotel, where we had a fantastic room with a sea view, we immediately took a stroll and checked out the tennis courts, which are right next to the hotel. A huge, beautifully landscaped complex on the hillside with incredible views of vineyards and the sea. Simply a dream.".
The hotel had a rich breakfast buffet; we could always sit outside on the terrace, enjoy the morning sun and help ourselves to great fruit, cheese, eggs, etc.
Afterwards, we went to play tennis – we played for two to three hours every day and really gave it our all. It was such a luxury to play without time pressure, without stress, without a clock, until we simply couldn't anymore. The courts were quite empty in the mornings, and we always managed to get a court. Of course, we took full advantage of that!

From the campsite, we went straight to the beach, where we relaxed. The water was fantastic – clear and refreshing without being too cold. It was August, after all: hot and crowded, but that was much less bothersome than we had expected. We felt completely at ease and comfortable. There are some great sundowner bars nearby, where we often strolled in the late afternoon to watch the (kite) surfers, listen to music, and enjoy a beer.

For dinner we went back to the hotel; it was delicious and varied, with something to suit every taste. We even discovered some fantastic wines from the island, truly delicious and surprising, which are rarely found in export markets. In the village, on the waterfront promenade, there's a wine bar run by a local winery, where you can sit comfortably and enjoy some really fine wine. These wines are also sold at the hotel, and we received excellent advice from the very friendly winemakers.
Although we quickly settled into our lazy holiday rhythm, we did manage to get up for a walk now and then, which was well worth it – the scenery is truly breathtaking! We even picked fresh figs, enjoyed incredible views, and came across secluded bays where there wasn't a soul in sight.

After our week in Bol, which flew by, we spent another night in Split, which we found far too touristy, although it is of course very beautiful. We simply took a walk a little outside the city, watched the boys cliff jumping, and enjoyed one last view of the stunning sea before heading to the airport and back home.
The week was truly unforgettable and we are very grateful to have experienced it!
