"You can't imagine how thrilled I am about winning, I'm absolutely overjoyed!" - that was Mario's reaction when we informed him in April that he was our ROBINSON Club and Camp tester for the ROBINSON Club Sarigerme Park on the Turkish Aegean coast. From October 25th to November 1st, 2019, Mario finally made it to Turkey. Besides a full week of all-inclusive ROBINSON service, he also enjoyed a tennis camp with ROBINSON brand ambassador and top tennis expert Nicolas Kiefer . And what can we say? We'll say nothing at all, but let Mario "speak" for himself. Wait - we'll just say one more thing: Enjoy the read!!
"We arrived at the Robinson Club Sarigerme Park at 9:00 PM on Friday evening. The Robinsons gave us a warm welcome with Turkish flags and cool drinks. After a delicious dinner buffet, we went to the beach and watched the surfers and sailors partying.".
The next day, we were divided into groups according to skill level. Training sessions were held on a rotating basis. One group started at 9:00 a.m., the others at 10:30 a.m., and the groups alternated each day. While the first group practiced basic strokes with Nicolas Kiefer (Kiwi), the second group trained endurance with Jens, and the third group worked on coordination and footwork with Tim.
The intensity of the training was steadily increased, and the exercises became more challenging day by day throughout the rest of the training camp. The guys were very friendly and professional, and they were able to give good tips, such as bending your knees more when hitting topspin, hitting through the ball more instead of waiting for it, taking less of a backswing on the volley, or throwing the ball further forward on the serve, etc.
The three coaches not only conveyed the intensity of the training but also the tips and techniques, such as doubles technique, footwork, serving techniques, return techniques, volleying technique, and tactical understanding of the game, very well. Even a circuit training session took place after the regular training.
The conditions at the club couldn't have been better. Both the weather, with consistent temperatures of 25-28°C, and the equipment—from tennis rackets and surfboards to volleyball nets and the impeccably maintained tennis courts—were top-notch. The staff throughout the club were friendly. The tennis instructors, surf instructors, entertainment staff, and especially the dining staff were all consistently friendly and helpful.
In addition, the Robinson Club Sarigerme Park offers fantastic views of the beautiful sea from all sides, and there are plenty of sun loungers such as daybeds, sunbeds, etc. available throughout the club.
On the chill-out lawn or at the water sports bar, you can watch a breathtaking sunset while enjoying a sundowner. The food is outstanding from morning till night, offering something for every palate, from freshly grilled fish and meat to a variety of vegetarian dishes and delicious desserts.
In the evenings, the club was transformed each day according to a different theme and prepared for a party. Whether it was Grease, Halloween, Black Angels, Blue and White Carpet Night, or Turkish Night, a new theme was always celebrated and lovingly brought to life. The meeting point in the evenings was the chessboard, where people could dance until midnight. For the night owls, the nightclub continued the festivities.
All in all, I can wholeheartedly recommend the tennis camp and the club to anyone who wants a combination of good food, lovely people, and top-level sport, and I will definitely participate in another tennis camp.
