Studying at a college in the USA is a dream for so many young people after graduating from high school. If you can combine your studies with your beloved sport of tennis, it could truly become your very own American Dream. A tennis scholarship can make this dream a reality, even if you're not among the absolute top players or highest earners.
In 2023, we documented our daughter Mia's entire journey to a tennis scholarship in the USA, from the initial idea to her flight there, in a blog series here on our blog. And we did so from a parent's perspective, because we as parents are very important companions on this big trip. After all, there are so many things to consider: from the language test and the application video to the interviews with the coaches and a whole host of administrative tasks.
I hope that with all this information we can be of some help to parents in the same situation!

So, have you tried padel tennis, the new trendy sport, yet? I first played padel many years ago on holiday on the Costa del Sol in Spain. The weather was gloomy, I was itching to move around, but my tennis equipment was at home. By chance, we discovered a tennis club with padel courts. So we went in, rented padel rackets, and the fun began! It was the perfect holiday treat! And I've also had the chance to try padel on a few tennis holidays and have been fascinated by this sport every time. So much is similar to tennis, but there are still many strokes and playing tactics that are initially unfamiliar to us tennis players.

Pickleball is increasingly conquering Europe as a new racket sport. In the USA, pickleball is THE trend sport and is played all over the country. The great thing about pickleball is that it's very easy to learn, regardless of age or prior experience. We tennis players can learn pickleball, which is a mix of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, very quickly and have an incredible amount of fun right away. Fast rallies with lots of volleys promise exciting matches – either in singles or doubles. However, just like in padel, there are many unique aspects and subtleties in pickleball that we tennis players first have to get used to. But that's precisely what makes trying a new racket sport so exciting. And that's exactly what I want to recommend to you, because pickleball is truly a lot of fun! Click, click, click, and the ball just zips back and forth!

Over Easter 2023, we were on the Croatian island of Lošinj. The Ljubicic Tennis Academy located in Veli Lošinj there since 2021. Our son Tom participated in a five-day intensive training course, and I wrote a camp diary about it. This should give you a good idea of what a tennis camp at the Academy is like, what went well, and what might not have gone so well.
And of course, we won't just describe what happened on and off the tennis court during camp. We'll also show you the wonderful vacation opportunities that await you on "Vitality Island" with its healing climate. This includes, first and foremost, the Vitality Hotel Punta , our camp hotel, to which the Academy is directly connected.

Exclusive – that's what the TennisTraveller camps are meant to be, and they truly are, in several respects. They take place in one of our TennisTraveller hotels , always feature a " special coach ," a specific camp theme , and one or more special side events .

Tennis holidays in Carinthia – the regional special with many Carinthian tennis hotels, tennis camps and tennis stories. What do you associate with Carinthia? For me, one or two tennis camps immediately come to mind...
What do you associate with Carinthia? For me, it immediately brings to mind the tennis camps I attended during my youth to prepare for the season. Or summer holidays at Lake Faak with wonderful swimming and mountain experiences with the family. And of course, the occasional heated match on one of the many tennis courts. And speaking of tennis courts, there are a whopping 600 outdoor and 80 indoor courts . Plenty of space to let loose!
Carinthia's mild climate makes it the perfect place to spend your pre-season training. It's a great alternative to other destinations like Mallorca, Lake Garda, or Turkey. For one thing, you can usually on the clay courts in Carinthia as early as April . And for another, there are many indoor tennis courts that offer a great alternative in bad weather – something you don't find everywhere!
The outdoor tennis season in Carinthia lasts until October : plenty of time to spend a wonderful tennis holiday in Carinthia with family or friends. Away from the tennis court, the region offers so many other possibilities: whether in one of the over 200 warm lakes or in the mountains, which invite you to hike or mountain bike.
Not to mention the numerous golf courses, so beautifully situated in the landscape. But of course, you can also enjoy a more relaxed holiday in Carinthia away from the tennis court. The lovely tennis hotels in Carinthia , and we're featuring their hosts in this regional special. And naturally, the delicious Carinthian Alpine-Adriatic cuisine a major role – after all, you should be treated to culinary delights even during your tennis holiday!
