Second travel bag in the TennisTravellertest: the Yonex Pro Trolley travel bag
Travel bag number two is up for grabs inour 2018 travel bag test: theYonex Pro Trolley travel bag. We've taken a close look at this travel bag and are evaluating it according to various criteria. This is our subjective opinion, of course. That's why we're definitely getting a second opinion – from you. More precisely: from one lucky TennisTraveller
You can find out how it works and what you need to do below! It's definitely worth participating!
Many thanks toTennis-Point for providing us with this travel bag free of charge for testing and giveaway – we certainly made time for that! And now, let's get started with the description:
Appearance & Design
The Yonex travel bag has a very simple yet elegant design: a black travel bag with the Yonex logo in gold. The lining is apple green – quite a contrast to the solid black – but you only see this when the bag is open.
Like the previously presented Dunlop travel bag, the design of this travel bag probably won't blow you away. However, the bag's color is certainly ideal for frequent travelers, as it hides stains and other marks.
Basic features & Trolley on the run
The bag's material seems very sturdy. Even when empty, the travel bag doesn't completely collapse because the material is quite thick and robust.
The telescopic handle extends in two steps up to a maximum of 30 cm at the touch of a button – it operates smoothly, quietly, and evenly. The rubber wheels are well integrated into the base of the travel bag. The base of the bag is well reinforced, and a removable plastic insert inside provides additional stability.
If you need to carry the bag, there are two fairly long carrying straps that can be fastened together with Velcro. There's also another handle on the side of the bag where the telescopic handle is located. Even when the travel bag is completely full, it doesn't tip over easily – two locking points on the side of the bag opposite the telescopic handle ensure this.
Size, dimensions and weight
The Yonex travel bag is slightly smaller than the previously presented Dunlop travel bag . Its basic dimensions are approximately 36 cm wide, 80 cm long, and a maximum of 34 cm high. The travel bag has a volume of 98 liters. With an empty weight of almost 5 kg, the bag is quite heavy – especially considering its volume.
Division
As for the bag's internal organization, we can keep this brief: the Yonex Travelbag has a single, large compartment . Unzip it, pack it in, and you're done. If you're traveling with this bag, you'll most likely end up unpacking almost everything – otherwise, it's absolute chaos. Our daughter recently got this Travelbag, and we've taken it on a few trips – and we've actually had to unpack and repack everything every single time we were in the hotel. The internal mesh dividers don't do much to help keep things organized.
On the outside, you have the option of storing a few small items in a small pocket with a two-way zipper , keeping them readily accessible. Running the entire length of the bag, there's another external compartment with a two-way zipper – quite practical, and you can store either a few extra items of clothing or smaller tennis accessories like strings, grips, etc.
The Yonex travel bag is a large yet manageable suitcase that can be easily pulled along thanks to its trolley function! However, we deduct points because it doesn't offer much in the way of internal organization. For TennisTraveller who aren't particularly organized or who don't mind a bit of clutter in their bag, this bag is certainly a good choice. Another minor criticism is the zippers, which don't feel quite as smooth as those we've experienced on other bags.
And of course, another video in which we briefly present the bag in "live operation"
