Appearance & Design
The Babolat Team Xplorer is brand new to the collection, and it's—guess what?—black. The turquoise decorative stitching provides a subtle pop of color. The white Babolat logo, appearing in various places, breaks up the blackness in a very pleasant and airy way.
Basic features & Trolley on the run
The material is polyester and, together with the color black, the travel bag is an easy-care and durable companion .
Now to the telescopic handle – unfortunately, it was quite stiff on our test sample, although it can be adjusted to two different lengths. Overall, the telescopic handle doesn't give the same high-quality impression as we've seen on other travel bags. Therefore, we're deducting one TennisTraveller rating, as the telescopic handle is one of the key features of a travel trolley. The wheels , as with the other bags, are very sturdy and well integrated into the solid base .
The travel bag's reinforced base provides excellent stability , further enhanced by two additional plastic strips. The handle on the side of the telescopic handle is very convenient for lifting the bag. The bag can be easily closed externally using the securing straps.
Size, dimensions and weight
The Babolat Team Xplorer is the smallest of the travel bags we tested. Its basic dimensions are: 76cm long, 40cm wide, and 37.5cm high. This gives it a volume of 92 liters – not a huge bag, but still well-suited for smaller luggage. The bag weighs a mere 2.85 kg when empty.
Division
When you open the travel bag with its two-way zipper, the fresh, turquoise liningno real dividers or compartments inside – the interior is essentially one large opening. Your belongings can be secured with two elastic straps in the lower third of the bag. Two adjustable struts at the bottom provide added stability. A small zippered pocket contains a small Babolat pouch, which you could potentially use for shoes – provided they aren't too bulky.
The lid of the bag has a mesh zippered pocket that covers the entire area - certainly quite practical for dirty laundry.
From the outside, there is a single pocket at the top, which is quite deep but not wide and therefore only suitable for flatter items.
Price
RRP €109.95.
At Tennis-Point you can currently get them for €87.90 - that's 20% cheaper!
The Babaolat Team Xplorer didn't fare quite so well in our travel bag test: firstly, due to the awkward telescopic handle, and secondly, due to the somewhat boring and inflexible layout of the bag – both inside and out. It's simply a bag lacking in sophistication and versatility.
