For the very first time, our summer holiday TennisTraveller Brennseehof tennis hotel in Feld am See, Carinthia, as our destination and enjoyed a fantastic week there with the perfect mix of relaxation and sports activities, only slightly marred by the bad weather. After a short cultural trip to Vienna, we all arrived at Brennsee, full of anticipation, and were immediately impressed by the hotel's stunning location. The Brennseehof is situated directly on the small Brennsee lake, separated only by a spacious lawn. The tennis courts and the lakeside wellness pavilion with its various pools and outdoor saunas are also located in front of the hotel.
Cozy tennis fan rooms, a sophisticated and comfortable interior, and a super relaxed, sporty atmosphere
The five of us had two "Tennis Fan" double rooms – a parents' room and a children's room with an extra bed. At 20 square meters, the rooms were quite small, both the sleeping area and the bathroom. With our tennis bags and other sports equipment, it was rather cramped – we would have liked a bit more space (which is available in other, more expensive room categories). The furnishings were functional and adequate, not exactly modern, but rather "classic." The balcony was fantastic, offering a wonderful view of the lake.
The hotel is comfortably furnished throughout, though with the exception of the relatively new reception area and the children's playroom, it's not exactly modern. The entire staff is incredibly friendly and always has a smile on their faces. The atmosphere among the guests was also very relaxed, and many were regulars – you can tell that the hotel is frequented by athletes.
The Brennseehof tennis hotel offers a sports program from morning till night and a tennis paradise with 9 courts
Speaking of sports – this is an absolute highlight at the Brennseehof Tennis Hotel . The daily sports program is truly extensive and offers a great deal for hiking, biking, water sports, and tennis enthusiasts. Courses of all kinds are offered in cooperation with the Krainer Sports School .
The tennis lessons, as we saw, were with great enthusiasm . We didn't take part ourselves, however, but instead played matches amongst ourselves or with new tennis friends on the rain-free days. Each room had a "slot card" that could be placed on a large weekly board. Since there were many tennis players at the hotel, the courts were always fully booked in the mornings and late afternoons, but we were able to book our preferred time slots almost every day. The courts were in good condition and were prepared early each morning.
The outdoor pools and the rather refreshing lake were fantastic for the children. We took a pedal boat around the lake almost every day. We also enjoyed jogging around the lake on land, especially before breakfast, followed by a swim – a great activity! Our kids spent hours playing table tennis or in the indoor soccer hall. Full-day childcare was also offered for younger children up to 10 years old – from what we could tell, it was all very nicely done.
We parents enjoyed the outdoor saunas and relaxing in the lakeside wellness area . The absolute highlight was the sauna infusions with Claudio , who created a real sauna event with his music and dance choreography! It was a bit of a shame that there wasn't a proper quiet area – the partition to the family area was always open, so it wasn't really quiet.
Delicious food is simply part of the perfect family tennis holiday - and that was available every day at Brennseehof!
A wonderful end to each day was dinner: five courses, and the day before we were always able to choose our main course from three options. Everything was very tasty, beautifully presented, and simply delicious. We also started each morning perfectly fortified by a fantastic breakfast buffet. In the afternoon, from 12 to 2 pm, we could satisfy our hunger at the afternoon buffet with salad and several hot dishes. And there was always free ice cream on top of that. A great feature for families was that the children, and even we adults, could help ourselves to the water and juice bar free of charge all day long. That certainly helped with the travel budget!.
Unfortunately, we only had proper summer weather for the first three days, during which we could bask in the sun on the lovely lawn. The remaining days were mixed, very cool, and rainy. That was a shame, but nobody can control the weather. And we still had a wonderful holiday.
For tennis and sports enthusiasts like us, the Brennseehof is an absolute holiday paradise ; it's a great place to relax and, if you want, work up a sweat. However, our summer holiday next year will take us back to the seaside – that was the conclusion of almost all family members.
