On-court recipe: These chocolate energy balls will keep you going strong
Today we have a very special on-court recipe for you: small but mighty are these chocolate energy balls . During the match, these little balls will give you the necessary power, taste delicious, and are really quick and easy to make yourself. You know exactly what's in them: healthy ingredients and tons of energy. That's how you get that next point!
Ingredients for 10-12 balls
- 120g roasted hazelnuts or almonds, or a mixture of both
- 60g Medjool dates
- 60g Deglet Nour dates
- 15g liquid coconut oil (best melted in a water bath)
- 2-3 tablespoons of pure cocoa powder
- 45g almond butter (or almond paste)
- a pinch of vanilla
preparation
- Mix all ingredients in a food processor until the mixture is sticky enough to form balls.
- If desired, leave small pieces of nuts for more crunch, i.e., chop them less finely.
- Store the balls in the refrigerator or chill for about 1 hour and then enjoy.
- They will keep for at least 3-4 weeks in the refrigerator.
- If you don't have time to form balls, you can also press the entire mixture into a rectangular shape and cut it into small pieces after cooling.
These energy balls are a great snack during the match, but can of course also be eaten before and after. Thanks to the dates and the fructose they contain, sugar (energy) is quickly released into our bloodstream, ensuring that we can easily reach the next stop!
The best consistency for these energy balls comes from a mixture of Medjool (very juicy) and Deglet-Nour date varieties. If you only want to use one variety, I recommend Medjool.
