From the regional special "Tennis vacation in Carinthia": Interview - Erland Palle from Brennseehof

As part of our regional special "Tennis vacation in Carinthia" we are speaking today with Erland Palle , managing director of the family-run family sports hotel Brennseehof in Feld am See. We asked Erland a few questions about the beautiful tennis hotel on Brennsee. And of course we want to know from him what makes a tennis holiday in Carinthia so special, what you shouldn't miss there and where Erland has his very own places of power. In the picture you can see Erland on the far right together with his parents, his wife and his children - three generations of the Palle family in and for the Brennseehof.

Briefly introduce yourself, the location of your hotel in Carinthia and your role in the hotel

My name is Erland Palle and I am part of the owner family and the managing director of Brennseehof. The family sports resort “BRENNSEEHOF ****s” is already run by us, the Palle family, in the 3rd generation. The resort combines family experiences, sport, wellness and culinary delights in equal measure. Idyllically nestled between the Nockberge, directly on the picturesque “Brennsee” in the center of Carinthia, it is the perfect holiday home for active families. The hotel offers 12 in-house tennis courts - most of them directly on the lake - as well as the Krainer Tennis & Sports School located on the hotel grounds. In addition to tennis, countless other sports can be learned or practiced here... both in summer and winter!

Are you a native of Carinthia?

Yes, a real “field by the lake”, with some experience abroad in the meantime, in order to ultimately return to your roots, because the place where you grew up is the most beautiful.

What do you think is “typical” for a Carinthian?

The relaxed approach to people and a certain amount of insult. “Lei losn” as a lifestyle – if you want.

The cool Nockberge trails with a mountain bike, the idyllic Alpine wildlife park in town and Lake Millstättersee with a boat...

What “active tips” are there away from the tennis court? What must a TennisTraveller “experience” in Carinthia?

Thanks to the sports school located on the hotel grounds, several sports such as biking and many water sports (SUP, canoeing, sailing, surfing...) can not only be practiced but also learned professionally. The surrounding Nockberge mountains also offer ideal conditions for jogging, Nordic walking and hiking. We also offer fitness classes such as stomach-legs-buttocks, smovey training, Pilates, yoga, archery, etc.

Tell us 2-3 typical Carinthian delicacies that you can also try in your hotel. 

The Carinthian cuisine offers many specialties, but the Carinthian Kasnudel, the Sterz, the yellow soup with Reindling, the Ritschert and of course various typical pastries should not be missed

Where exactly is your absolute favorite place in Carinthia and why do you think it is so beautiful there?

 There are many - depending on the purpose or season. In winter there are various beautiful mountain places (the Nockberge in particular have a lot to offer). In the summer months, the various clearings along the Rudolf Greinz Trail between our two lakes are simply magical and real places of power.
