In our new section "TRIPLE T - TennisTraveller Tests," we'll be regularly testing new products from Tennis Warehouse Europe, our new partner. From rackets and shoes to bags, strings, and tennis apparel. We're kicking things off today with the K-Swiss Express Light 3 , a lightweight women's indoor tennis shoe with a carpet sole, ideal for recreational and amateur players who want a light, comfortable feel and good grip on carpet. The shoe's vibrant color scheme immediately caught my eye as soon as I unpacked it. Finally, a tennis shoe that isn't so boring – finally, something colorful and eye-catching in chic black, mint, and pink! While design is important, what matters most is how the shoe performs on the court. I tested the shoe for you based on various criteria. And of course, you can look forward to my personal review of the shoe! So, let's get started!
The Express Light 3 uses a synthetic upper with an RPU cage construction, also known as DuraWrap Flex, which is designed to provide shape stability while allowing freedom of movement. Inside, there's a well-padded collar; the insole is a die-cut foam/CMEVA construction for responsive cushioning.
However, the DuraWrap Flex is somewhat prone to cracking under heavy use and often doesn't offer long-lasting durability.
The shoe's design clearly prioritizes comfort: the midsole offers noticeable cushioning without a "wobbly" feel. This shoe is a great choice for players who value a light, comfortable feel, for example, for leisure, training, or pickleball.
The "Carpet" version I tested features a sole compound and tread pattern optimized for carpet/indoor surfaces. The sole provides good grip for lateral movements and stopping. The shoe is also available in clay court and all-court versions with appropriately designed soles.

The light weight of just under 300 grams (size 38) supports quick strides and ensures good mobility. However, lateral stability is not as good compared to sturdier, heavier shoes. This becomes noticeable during extreme and rapid changes of direction.
The shoe is offered by K-Swiss in the mid-price range and is currently at Tennis Warehouse for €107.90 . This places it in the "good value for money" category, especially if you don't need a specialized, more expensive performance shoe.
The design is really well done – finally something "snazzy". Personally, I find the shoe too light; it doesn't give me enough feedback on the pitch, especially compared to heavier performance shoes.
For daily, intensive training sessions that demand high durability and stability, this shoe won't be ideal. K-Swiss offers more suitable shoes for that purpose – though they are, of course, considerably more expensive. However, if you're looking for a lightweight shoe with good value for money, don't play every day, and have a slightly wider foot, you should definitely take a look at the K-Swiss Express Light 3.
For narrow feet like mine, the shoe is too wide at the front. Even the tightest lacing and a firm fit at the heel don't help: my foot slides around far too much inside the shoe, which is generally unacceptable, but especially so indoors.
