Santa Ponsa, on Mallorca's west coast, is a typical Mallorcan resort town. Small, bustling in high season, with many little shops and hotels. For us TennisTraveller the 4-star Hotel Bahia del Sol proven to be the ideal tennis hotel, regularly hosting tennis groups, especially for pre-season training, for several years. But the hotel also welcomes many athletes throughout the rest of the season and is very popular due to its uncomplicated atmosphere. It's not overly luxurious, but perfect for a successful tennis holiday, where the nearby Mediterranean Sea is a must.
Hotel descriptionThe 4-star Hotel Bahía del Sol (local rating) is located on the west coast of Mallorca in Santa Ponsa (Calvià) and is separated from the sea only by the coastal road. The sandy beach with its attractive promenade is just 200 meters away. The town center is 400 meters away. A bus stop with regular bus services is 250 meters away.
The complex consists of a main building and an annex, both connected. The hotel has 209 rooms, a restaurant, a bar, parking, and a spa. The main building houses a lobby with reception, elevators (also in the annex), a dining room, a lounge with a bar and dance floor, a TV room with satellite TV, a library, a lounge, and free internet access in the lobby bar. The spacious bar lounge was completely renovated in the winter of 2016/17, and the entire restaurant and buffet area was renovated in 2016.
The beautifully landscaped gardens, featuring palm and olive trees, include swimming pools with a separate children's pool and a sun terrace with loungers, parasols, and cushions (subject to availability). Towels and bathrobes are available for a deposit.
During the season, the hotel offers a daytime entertainment program for adults and children, as well as an evening entertainment program. Additional amenities for TennisTravellerinclude: free parking behind the hotel, free shower service for late departures, luggage storage for late check-outs, and laundry and ironing service.
TennisWhen it comes to tennis, the Royal Tennis Academy Mallorca under the direction of Niko Paunovic. Together with his team of trainers you can book your training individually: from training-intensive tennis camps to individual lessons, from beginners to pros - you are really in good hands here. The large and recurring regular audience at all tennis levels speaks for the Academy.
You can play tennis at the Santa Ponsa Tennis Club , which is located about a kilometer from the hotel. The tennis courts are about a 10-minute walk away, or about 5 minutes by car. The tennis club offers 8 clay courts (all with floodlights), a cafeteria, a pro shop, changing rooms, and showers.
More sports offeringsFor those who enjoy sports beyond the tennis court, there is a fitness room, table tennis tables, and golf courses, cycling paths, and hiking trails in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. Water sports of all kinds are also available.
WellnessThe hotel offers two outdoor pools, a heated indoor pool, a fitness room, and a Moroccan-style spa area with a sauna, jacuzzi, solarium, massage services, and a relaxation room. The jacuzzi and sauna are free for all guests.
CateringThe hotel offers a varied buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as a wine cellar with a selection of fine wines. Throughout the week, various themed evenings with show cooking presented, and the gala dinner, featuring typical Mallorcan dishes , is a highlight of the evening. For children, there is a wide selection of pizzas and pasta dishes. The bar invites you to enjoy a cocktail, wine, or sangria. On the pool terrace, you can also find a variety of sandwiches and snacks.
