Preparations for the Rhein Asset Open , the ATP Challenger tournament on the Rhine and Ruhr from August 8th to 15th, 2021 at the TeReMeer in Meerbusch, are in full swing. Tennis entrepreneur and tournament organizer Marc Raffel is extremely busy. He is particularly pleased with the number of participants. Daniel Altmaier, currently playing in top form, will be competing in Meerbusch, as will Pedro Sousa, Robin Haase, Dustin Brown, Mischa Zverev, and many other renowned tennis professionals. We are also very much looking forward to the upcoming tournament, especially since, as in previous years, we are once again a proud tournament partner and are giving away a fantastic travel prize before and during the tournament: short break at the exclusive Forte Village Resort in Sardinia
In addition to crowd favorite Dustin Brown, defending champion Pedro Sousa of Portugal has also announced his participation. The 32-year-old clay-court specialist won the 2019 title in Meerbusch in a dramatic final against Pedja Kristin. (SRB). German rising star Daniel Altmaier will also compete at the Rhein Asset Open. The 22-year-old from Kempen sensationally reached the round of 16 at last year's French Open after victories against, among others, Jan-Lennard Struff and Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini. At the ATP Challenger in Braunschweig last July, Daniel confirmed his excellent form, winning the tournament in the final against Henri Laaksonen 6-1, 6-2.
Mischa Zverev, brother of Germany's No. 1 Alexander Zverev, has also confirmed his participation in the Rhein Asset Open. "Mischa is still competing at the world-class level, and I'm very pleased that he's agreed to play," said Raffel. Multiple-time Dutch Davis Cup player Robin Haase will also be competing at this year's Rhein Asset Open in Meerbusch. Robin has already won two ATP Tour titles in Kitzbühel in 2011 and 2012, and his highest ATP ranking was 33. "An excellent field of players is shaping up," said Raffel, who is also in contact with Germany's tennis star Philipp Kohlschreiber. "If Philipp doesn't participate in the US Open warm-up tournaments in Winston-Salem and Washington, there might be a chance to see him in Meerbusch," Raffel added.
