In June, two international UTR Pro Tennis Tour tournaments will take place at the PMTR/KHTC Mülheim facility on Mintarder Straße: a women's tournament from Monday, June 13th to Sunday, June 19th, and a men's tournament from Sunday, June 26th to Sunday, July 3rd. Since mid-2021, the PMTR Tennis Academy in Mülheim an der Ruhr has been the German partner of the UTR International Pro Tennis Tour (PTT) as part of its European expansion. This is an international tournament series from Universal Tennis in the USA.
The aim of the UTR Pro Tennis Tour (PTT) tournament concept is to offer up-and-coming professional players worldwide an international tournament with many matches through group play and at the same time to support them financially through attractive prize money totaling 20,000 US dollars per competition.
“The UTR PTT concept is absolutely convincing and is very popular with players. The feedback from participants in the last four tournaments we organized was consistently positive. We were very pleased about that,” said Uwe Schumann (PMTR), Tournament Director of UTR PTT Germany.
Feedback from previous participants has indicated that the match-packed tournament week is very attractive, as it provides excellent training for competitive play while guaranteeing prize money even for the last-place finishers. With court maintenance, on-site physiotherapy, drinks and fruit available directly on the courts, international chair umpires, and live streaming, all players enjoy optimal conditions.
For spectators, this means the opportunity to watch top-level tennis from up-and-coming professionals – free of charge – live in Mülheim or online via live stream.
Half of the participants in previous UTRs are ranked between 240 and 1572 in the world rankings. Among them are Antonia Balzert, who is familiar with the PMTR as a former training venue, as well as Leonie Möller (DTB 118), Emelie Schwarte and Natalia Siedliska (WTA 693, DTB 35).
The tournament will be played in a round-robin group stage format; that is, four matches will take place each day on two courts. The semifinals will be played on Saturday, and the finals on Sunday. In the playoff rounds of the semifinals and finals, the top teams from each group will compete against each other to determine their final standings. The top teams from each group will then play each other in the semifinals on Saturday and the final on Sunday to determine the overall tournament winner.
The tournament starts daily at 8:00 AM. Admission is free.
