A resounding victory in the final against top seed Michael Geerts in Troisdorf - hosts, partners & sponsors are thrilled
“It was a fantastic week of tournament play,” summarized organizer Marc Raffel at the awards ceremony of the TVM Open by TeReMeer 2021, during the lively event. A major contribution to this success was undoubtedly made by the new TVM Open champion, Elmar Ejupovic (Wolfsburg), who prevailed in a high-class final against the top Belgian favorite, Michael Geerts, with a score of 7:6 and 6:2.
After a rain delay at 6-6, the affable Geerts couldn't find his rhythm and made too many unforced errors. Ejupovic continued his impressive performance from the tournament week and showed no weaknesses. His beautiful, one-handed backhand and powerful serve dominated the final. Uwe Maaß, the energetic president of the host club TC RW-Troisdorf, along with the many partners and sponsors of the TVM Open, were full of praise and could look back with pride on a very special week of top-level tennis in the Middle Rhine Tennis Association, held in a wonderful setting. "We are already looking forward to our small, 5th anniversary of the TVM Open next year," said Maaß.
The awards ceremony at the TVM Open was once again a highlight. During the ceremony, 28-year-old champion Elmar Ejupovic voiced strong criticism of the German Tennis Federation (DTB). "There are far too few ITF World Tennis Tour tournaments in Germany, like this one here in Troisdorf. As a result, local tennis professionals have to travel far too much, and at great expense." The honorary chairman of the Middle Rhine Tennis Association (TVM), who was also present, went even further, noting that despite the DTB's resources and capabilities, far too little support is being provided for young players and tournaments.
Organizer Marc Raffel – who runs a total of three international tournaments in Germany – took the opportunity at the TVM Open to discuss a joint ATP and ITF tournament concept for the 2022 summer season with Michael Kohlmann (Head of Men's Tennis in Germany and Davis Cup Captain) on the sidelines of the matches in Troisdorf. "I would be pleased if my offer of discussion is well received," said Raffel.

Tournament organizer Marc Raffel is already busy with preparations for the ATP Challenger tournament Tennis Open Meerbusch, which will also take place at Teremeer from August 8th to 15th, 2021. And surely even more tennis enthusiasts will be able to enjoy some fantastic men's tennis live on site.
We're really looking forward to the tournament, where we'll be a proud tournament partner! And we have something very special in TennisTraveller ! Stay tuned!
