In June, on the occasion of the Terra Wortmann Open 2022, we were looking for a travel scout to test the COURT Hotel in Halle in Westphalia .
Marc from Trier was the lucky winner who received a travel voucher for two as well as a new DUNLOP FX 500 LS racket . You can read about Marc's "first time on grass," his impressions of the tennis hotel, and his thoughts on the new racket in his detailed Travelscout report. Enjoy!
"When we arrived in Halle (Westphalia) around 2 p.m. on Friday after a four-hour drive, the sun came out immediately, after it had rained on and off during the journey. We first took our time to explore the entire complex around the OWL Arena and were immediately impressed. The rain covers were just being removed from the pitches, and we were able to get a first impression of the grass fields where we would later have our first experiences playing.".
From the COURT Hotel directly onto the tennis court
Afterwards, we explored the Court Hotel and were immediately captivated by the entire ambiance. We received a very friendly welcome at reception and, after a short wait, were able to check into our Comfort Deluxe double room. And what can I say? It was a dream. Spacious, roomy, and modern furnishings, great amenities, a comfortable and large bed – what more could you ask for?!
We couldn't stay in our room for too long, as we had booked a grass court in advance for 4 p.m. So we headed to the sports center to sign up for our tennis lesson. We were really excited and full of anticipation to see what it would feel like to play on grass, as it was our first time. It felt fantastic right away, and surprisingly, we got used to the new surface relatively quickly. We were then able to fully enjoy our two hours of grass tennis on the well-maintained court. Since a men's ranking tournament was taking place that weekend, all eight grass courts were occupied, and we watched a few matches afterward.
A highly successful lawn tennis premiere
After dinner, we visited the pool and sauna area to round off the day. The light-filled bathing area with its integrated seating niches and whirlpool loungers lived up to its promise and was very inviting. The water was pleasantly warm and ideal for swimming and relaxing. It was the perfect way to end the day.
After a pleasant night, we set off for breakfast around 8:30 the next morning. It was just a short walk from our ground-floor room to the breakfast buffet. And it lived up to its promise – a well-balanced and healthy breakfast. There was something for everyone, and the staff was very friendly. Everything was provided, and we were able to start the day feeling refreshed and energized.
Grass, sand AND hard court - it's all there at the COURT Hotel
After a successful debut on grass, we tried out the hard court. It was a completely new experience for us, but we quickly got the hang of it. Overall, it was significantly more strenuous than playing on grass. After an intense training session, we deserved a short break with a cool drink. We watched some matches on the other courts before heading to one of the two clay courts for another hour.
To put it simply: I've never played on such a wonderful clay court! I've been playing competitive matches for 30 years, but I've never seen a clay court like this. It didn't need watering, even though it was hot and dry in Halle. There were no flaws or holes – simply top-notch! It was an absolute joy to play on this court. Highly recommended!
In the afternoon, we made ample use of the Court Hotel's spa and sauna facilities for relaxation and rejuvenation. We also enjoyed plenty of swimming, resulting in a truly active day. Towards evening, we headed to the city center to explore a bit more and enjoy a leisurely dinner.
On Sunday morning, it was sadly time to say goodbye again. After a leisurely and substantial breakfast, we bid farewell to the friendly staff at reception and set off to participate in a ranking tournament in Westphalia. Having successfully collected some ranking points, we finally headed home after a fantastic weekend.
Overall, it was a thoroughly successful weekend. The exclusive tennis hotel with its ambiance and excellent facilities, the delicious food, the tennis courts, and the entire complex in very good condition were all fantastic. We can highly recommend the Court Hotel in Halle (Westphalia) to everyone, including families with children, although perhaps not necessarily those with toddlers.
A huge and heartfelt thank you to the entire team for these amazing moments and experiences! And the DUNLOP racket is simply TOP!
