Have you heard of the Tennis Brothers ? No? Then you're just like me until the IsarOpen last August. The Tennis Brothers, like our TennisTraveller tournament partner, were part of the new ATP Challenger tournament at the TC Großhesselohe facility near Munich. Felix, 15, and Lucian, 12 – the two Tennis Brothers – stayed in Munich with their parents, Liz and Michael, for the entire tournament week. They gained insights into tournament life and also spent plenty of time on the court themselves, sparring with great partners and filming videos. I had the pleasure of meeting this lovely tennis family from London and interviewing them about their activities and their lives as very special TennisTraveller . And since their father, Michael, is German, we conducted the interview in German.
The two tennis-mad brothers from London have become some of the most important junior influencers in tennis through their activities on social media.
And it all started three years ago more as a private initiative – as father Michael, a German native, told me. At the time, he wanted to share the training and tournament activities of his two sons, who are among the top players in their age groups in England, with their friends. But it quickly became clear to both the parents and the boys that their YouTube videos, Instagram posts, and stories were interesting to many other tennis-loving kids and tweens. Their way of explaining tennis-related things simply resonated with young people.
And so, the YouTube channel, like all their other social media channels, grew rapidly and now boasts a truly impressive reach. Their reach is so substantial that the guys can now count a number of sporting goods manufacturers among their sponsors, for whom they regularly conduct product tests or are invited to events.
It's no wonder that online activities are particularly time-consuming for parents Michael and Liz. But in my interview with this very lovely and tennis-mad family in August at the IsarOpen in Munich, all four of them reveal why they love their tennis life so much, even though it's tightly scheduled, exhausting, and demands enormous discipline from all family members. But all of that is simply a consequence of their shared goal of becoming professional tennis players.
It's best to follow the Tennis Brothers' various social media channels, which are among the most popular in the tennis world. Felix and Lucian have many interesting and valuable tips and tricks, especially for children who love tennis.
