Slovakian Lukas Klein wins the first Saturn Oil Open against Zizou Bergs from Belgium

Great tennis before the heavy rain. The singles final of the first Saturn Oil Open was moved forward an hour to 1 p.m. due to the critical weather forecast. And that was exactly the right decision, because the heavy rain started immediately after the atmospheric awards ceremony. Before that, qualifier Lukas Klein (SVK) had set his sights on his first ATP title with an incredibly strong performance against the favored Belgian tennis hopeful Zizou Bergs.

Lukas was able to replicate the exceptional quality he displayed in the previous rounds against Pawel Cias, Hahn Habib, Facundo Mena, Nicola Kuhn, Hugo Greiner, and Henri Squire in the final, securing a dominant 6-2, 6-4 victory and claiming the title, prize money, ATP points, and the B&B Hotels Tennis Trophy. "Lukas's powerful, virtually flawless game impressed us all," summarized organizer Marc Raffel afterward.

Double triumph for Brown/King

Dustin Brown (GER) and Evan King (USA) won the doubles title the day before, defeating Hendrik Jebens (GER) and Piotr Matuszewski (POL) 6-4, 7-5. The Jamaican-American pair, seeded No. 2, deservedly won the title and thrilled the spectators.

Excellent conclusion from those in charge

Uwe Mass, president of the organizing TC RW-Troisdorf eV, organizer Marc Raffel, and co-tournament director Marc Kevin Goellner drew an extremely positive conclusion. Over 4,000 visitors attended throughout the tournament week, and the interest from spectators, press, and sponsors was enormous. "The high level of performance among the professionals also impressed me," said Goellner. "Now it's time to take stock and start planning directly for next year," added Raffel.
