The ATP Challenger tournament landscape will gain a prominent addition in 2022: the traditional TVM Open, previously an ITF tournament, will become the ATP Challenger Saturn Oil Open . The tournament location remains Troisdorf near Cologne. This is a remarkable development in the anything but easy tournament scene. That such a "tournament upgrade" is even possible is certainly thanks to the tireless dedication and extensive experience of tennis entrepreneur Marc Raffel , who will continue as organizer and tournament director. Together with none other than Marc-Kevin Goellner as co-tournament director, will bring

Saturn Oil & Gas Inc. (“Saturn” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it will host the Saturn Oil Open ATP tennis tournament in Troisdorf, Germany, in May 2022. Saturn is partnering with KidSport Canada to promote the participation of underprivileged youth in sports and support their healthy development. Saturn is working with Marc-Kevin Goellner, the former German Davis Cup champion and former top 25 tennis professional, and Marc Raffel, an experienced and successful German tennis promoter, who will serve as co-directors of the tournament.
“Sport has a positive impact on the lives of young people: it improves health, strengthens self-confidence, teamwork, and integration,” said John Jeffrey, CEO of Saturn. “We are delighted to be partnering with the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) at the Saturn Oil Open to support children who lack the financial means to participate in sports.”
The Saturn Oil Open will take place from May 22nd to 29th, 2022, at the prestigious RW Troisdorf Tennis Club near Cologne, one of Europe's most vibrant cities. Cologne, beautifully situated on the Rhine River, is home to Germany's most visited landmark, Cologne Cathedral. The Saturn Oil Open promises to be a premier event for tennis fans worldwide, with every match streamed live and free of charge online. The Saturn Oil Open will also raise funds for the development of youth sports facilities, including the restoration of tennis courts damaged by the July 2021 floods in western Germany.
“A healthy body and a healthy mind are important for a modern society – especially during the current pandemic,” commented Marc-Kevin Goellner, Tournament Co-Director. “Creating role models for young people is one of the main goals of the upcoming tennis tournament with Saturn as a sponsor. We are very pleased and proud to welcome ATP tennis professionals from around the world to the Saturn Oil Open.”
Marc-Kevin Goellner and Marc Raffel, both residents of Cologne, are combining their expertise and will present ATP tennis for the first time in the Rhine & Sieg region with the Saturn Oil Open from May 22nd to 29th, 2022, at the beautiful facilities of TC RW-Troisdorf eV. "We expect world-class men's tennis in a wonderful setting," says Raffel. "With the Saturn Oil Open, the greater Cologne area gains a first-class sporting event," adds Marc-Kevin Goellner.
