When the surprise winner Lukas Klein (SVK) won the 1st Saturn Oil Open from qualifying at the end of May last year, the organizer Marc Raffel, co-tournament director Marc-Kevin Goellner and the organizers of the host TC RW-Troisdorf eV took part Uwe Maaß, Volker de Cloedt and Claus Dreser are already preparing for the second edition of ATP Tennis at Rhein & Sieg . This will now take place again from May 28th to June 4th, 2023 at the beautiful TC RW tennis facility. In addition to the men's competition, there will also be a women's competition for the first time, as a so-called combined event. “Tournaments of this type - including Grand Slams - are particularly interesting for spectators,” says organizer Marc Raffel, “but they also pose an enormous logistical challenge for us organizers.”
As TennisTraveller also taking part in the second edition as a tournament partner , we are really happy about it and have a brilliant travel prize in our luggage.
Twice as many matches mean significantly more staff and preparation. This year, the total prize money will be $100,000, more than double that of last year – "a tough nut to crack," says Marc Kevin Goellner, a former Davis Cup winner with Germany. Play will take place on six courts; the center court seats around 1,200 spectators, and the entire complex has a capacity of over 3,000, as the other six tournament courts also offer ample space for spectators. Several food and beverage stands will be available for spectators and guests. The tournament will feature a 32-player and a 24-player qualifying round, two 32-player main draws (men's and women's singles), and two doubles competitions. Day tickets are already available online at www.saturnoilopen.com starting at €15, and for the first time, after-work and weekend tickets are also available.
The supporting program surrounding the Saturn Oil Open is impressive: From a reading of Daniel Duhr's new tennis book "Tennis Hell" to the opening party, Kids Day with the Kreissparkasse Köln, and ATP Business Night, to "Sport meets Art," the live concert with KING LOUI, the new celebrity talk show "Loss mer schwade," and the Pro-Am tournament – there's something for everyone. During the week, play starts at 11:00 AM, with one match per day not before 5:30 PM. The final day begins on Sunday, June 4th, 2023, at 12:00 PM.
