Tennis to your ears with the podcast Doublette 76 by and with Tom Heinkel and Lars Kreyenhagen
Today we have something for you! Namely the tennis podcast “Doubllette76” by and with Tom Heinkel . Tom is one of the two podcast double partners, i.e. "podcast hosts" and launched the tennis podcast two years ago together with Lars Kreyenhagen. Tom tells me in the interview how and when the two Hamburg boys and self-confessed tennis nerds came up with the idea of exchanging their encyclopedic tennis knowledge not just after the tennis matches, but in a podcast format. Included in every podcast episode: a guest who shares the love of tennis. Be it an ex-tennis professional, a journalist, a tennis entrepreneur - all more or less well-known personalities for whom tennis plays a central role in their lives. Who has already been a guest of Tom and Lars, who Tom would like to be an interview guest in the future and where he himself travels on his tennis vacation as an enthusiastic tennis player - you can find out all this here in the blog post and in the interview. Nice reading and listening!
Who and what is the podcast Doublelette76 about?
Doubllette76 – that's Tom Heinkel and Lars Kreyenhagen. A duo united by their shared hometown of Hamburg, their birth year of 1976, and their great love of tennis. A very well-coordinated podcast duo who, in reality, haven't known each other for very long. The idea of creating a tennis podcast together – unsurprisingly – originated on the tennis court. More precisely, during après-tennis in 2019. It quickly became clear that the game of answering the most ridiculous tennis questions wasn't just fun for the two of them, but for everyone around them. In 2022, the idea became a reality, and Doubllette76 saw the light of the podcast world.
The premiere guest was Kris Hünecke, founder of the band Revolverheld, who was already involved in the brainstorming session back in 2019. New podcast episodes have been recorded approximately every two weeks since then, always featuring people who love tennis as much as the two hosts. These include former professionals like Mischa Zverev, Udo Riglewski, Markus Zoecke, and Meike Babel, as well as tennis enthusiasts from the writing profession, such as tennisMagazin editors Andrej Antic and Andreas Eckhoff, Felix Hutt (author of " Lucky Loser "), Felix Grewe (author of " Enjoy your Game "), and many others.
In their podcast, Tom and Lars emphasize showcasing the personal side of their interviewees. They don't focus on the latest tournament results, but rather explore timeless yet equally important topics. These include subjects like fair play, the future of the German Tennis Federation (DTB), and more.
My very personal conclusion
I knew many of the guests on Doubllette76 by name and from their past successes. However, the anecdotes and behind-the-scenes stories were always the most exciting, the most interesting. Things you don't hear just anywhere. Combined with the seemingly endless tennis knowledge and the relaxed, conversational style of the two podcast hosts, this results in one highly entertaining episode after another, where time flies by. Doubllette76 is the brainchild of two guys from Hamburg who live and breathe tennis. Together, they're a walking tennis encyclopedia. And honestly, I don't know how I'll fare in their tennis quiz, which they almost always give their podcast guests. I still have that test to take!
The TennisTraveller has also been a guest on the podcast Doublette76
If you'd like to listen to my podcast about tennis and a little bit about the TennisTraveller , you'll have to wait a little longer! The recording is already finished, though.
