When the Kirschbaum International returns May 1st to 8th, 2022 , the tennis stars of tomorrow will be taking to the court. The ITF World Tour event primarily features young talents and up-and-coming players on the verge of breaking into the ATP Tour. The 32-player main draw will include at least three German tennis professionals: Louis Wessels (ATP 347), Tim Handel (ATP 548), and Dominik Böhler (ATP 645). Other German participants include Oscar Moraing, Robert Strombachs, Leopold Zima, Milan Welte, and the young Max Rehberg. The main draw features players from nine European countries, including Germany, France, Switzerland, Romania, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, and Spain. Russian-born Ivan Nedelko will compete under a neutral flag.
We are delighted to be a tournament partner again this year and wish the organizers, spectators and players a fantastic and exciting tournament!
“The city of Meerbusch can be proud to host such a top-class international field,” said a delighted organizer Marc Raffel. “Among the favorites for the title, I see former world No. 62 Kenny de Schepper (FRA) and the 19-year-old Romanian rising star Nicholas David Ionel, currently ranked No. 350 in the ATP world rankings. “However, the level of competition is very high, so practically anything is possible,” Raffel added. The winner will receive prize money and 10 ATP world ranking points – out of a total of 40 – as well as the new B&B Hotels Tennis Trophy, presented by Martin Kastner (MK Consulting & Hotelmanagement GmbH), on the final day, May 8th.
A catering service is available for guests and spectators throughout the tournament week; tickets are available at the box office.
Henri Squire, a 21-year-old tennis Bundesliga player from Düsseldorf's Rochusclub and currently ranked No. 350 in the ATP world rankings, has received a wildcard from organizer Marc Raffel for the Kirschbaum International, which starts on May 1st, 2022 at the TeReMeer in Meerbusch. "Henri has developed tremendously and is on his way to the top; a true local hero for the Kirschbaum International.".
