Stay in the game even without a tennis court with the Hitpartner tennis wall

From 100 to zero – that's what happened to our tennis-mad kids when all tennis activities were stopped in mid-March due to Corona. So what to do to keep the kids entertained? After a quick internet search, it was clear: the tennis family desperately needed a hit partner . The mobile ball wall was ordered and arrived in no time.

3-2-1 - that's how quickly it's set up!

The setup was incredibly quick – thanks to the instructions and the small number of parts, it was no problem at all. You just need someone taller to help with attaching the tensioning net. And then we were off and running on the lawn. Our youngest's first few swings were a bit tentative. But once he realized that his hitting partner really responded well to even faster shots, he really picked up the pace.

The hit partner in everyday use – now it gets really concrete

Basically, you can play with a hit partner on any surface , as long as you hit the ball immediately after it bounces off the board. However, if you want the ball to bounce on the ground afterwards – for example, when playing with two people and need a little more time between shots – a flat surface, ideally asphalt, is best.

BASIC STRIKES : The Hit Partner is simply IDEAL for forehand and backhand strokes in all variations. Playing alone allows you to perfectly train your stroke rhythm, whether it's drive, spin, or slice. Our son always plugged in his AirPods and then he'd get started. Technical details can also be improved by the regular bounce of the ball.
VOLLEYS : To be honest, we had some difficulty with volleys – across the entire tennis family. We could never play volleys nearly as well as, for example, against a wall.
SERVE : For more experienced players, it's definitely possible to serve against your hitting partner and then continue playing immediately afterward. You just need to find the "right" distance between your hitting partner and the server. At first, we occasionally sent a ball flying towards the neighbor, missing our hitting partner. But we got that under control pretty quickly, and no windows were broken...
LEG WORK : the Hitpartner is ideal for this and makes many "shadowing" training sessions much more attractive. Especially when training in pairs, cones can be used in all sorts of ways to perfectly train the legs and then strike them.
FUN FACTOR : I would rate that as very high. We had many hilarious rounds of "Mäxle" and also practiced various trick shots.
EVERYDAY SUITABILITY : A major advantage of the Hitpartner is its small footprint . It can even be used in the garage. Another great feature, and one that's good for the neighbors' nerves, is that training with the Hitpartner is remarkably quiet – absolutely no comparison to a normal (ball) wall or a garage door. However, it's important to keep in mind that the Hitpartner itself isn't exactly small, so you'll need a suitable space for it.
Also important to know: due to the large stretched fabric, the Hitpartner is quite susceptible to wind – both during use and, of course, when it's not in use. It's essential to secure the Hitpartner to the ground to prevent it from tipping over in the wind.

A hefty price, but absolutely worth it

Even though the Hitpartner isn't exactly a bargain at 399 euros, I would recommend the mobile ball wall to anyone who wants to do an extra training session at home or simply wants to hit a round of balls alone or together with friends or family members.

For clubs, there is a stainless steel version for 799 euros, which can easily stand outdoors permanently and is an alternative to building a large concrete ball wall.
