Book review of "My Will" by Stephan Medem: a guide to a self-determined life according to YOUR will
Following his two tennis bestsellers , "My Child WANTS to Go to Wimbledon" and " Playgirl, " our coach Stephan Medem has launched his latest work at the Frankfurt Book Fair. The title, "My Will," already reveals the book's central theme: a (learning) book about living a self-determined life with step-by-step instructions. A book for anyone who wants to take control of their own life. And that's more than important, especially for us tennis players!
After two tennis books, now a life coaching book
decades of coaching experience in tennis have not only convinced and helped countless children and teenagers progress on and off the court. Beyond the tennis court, Steph's tennis bestsellers have also inspired many young tennis players and their parents, serving as valuable guides.
It's only logical that Steph would now apply his coaching experience from the tennis world not only to the business world but also to general "life coaching." What all these areas have in common is the pursuit of self-determination and personal responsibility . And that's precisely what Stephan Medem's new book, with its somewhat martial title "My Will," is about.
Direct and humorous guidance for a free, independent life
Steph's new book is very much in her signature style. If you're looking for a feel-good book, you might initially struggle with Steph's very direct and uncompromising approach. Are you dissatisfied, unhappy with your life, dependent, and controlled by others? Then there's only one person who can change that: YOU.
The book presents a kind of roadmap for how anyone can achieve a free, self-determined life: setting and writing down goals, and defining and reviewing milestones. Steph's advice for our journey towards greater self-determination: we shouldn't constantly question ourselves, but rather shape our environment in a way that is ideal and conducive to achieving our goals.
After reading the book, you have a roadmap, a kind of instruction manual – that's very good! But the biggest challenge and task is yet to come: the ACTION! And should you encounter difficulties during implementation, there's always the solution of booking Steph as a personal coach.
Who is this book suitable for?
Anyone who is somewhat dissatisfied with their life, who longs for more self-determination and independence, should definitely read this book. It's a joy to read. It's written in such a way that it shakes you up, motivates you to get started. It provides a guideline on how you can initiate your own individual development process and bring it to a hopefully successful conclusion.
Therefore, this process can be particularly important and helpful for us tennis players, especially for ambitious (young) tennis players. But this book is also highly recommended for all non-tennis players.
If you are open to new approaches, then read this book. And then we wish you that "YOUR will be done"!
