We recently returned to the travel scene as Travelscouts after a long time and spent a tennis weekend at the Krone Tennis Hotel in Schnetzenhausen . We received tennis training at the Power the Ball Tennis Academy, led by Mathias Messmer and Niki Ferrari. Read my detailed Travelscout report to find out everything we experienced. And we had quite a lot! Active, relaxing, enjoyable, educational, personal, and inspiring. We didn't just bring home many wonderful moments and great experiences. We also have something for you: we're giving away a tennis week for kids at the Power the Ball Tennis Academy in the summer of 2022 .
Friday afternoon near Stuttgart, tennis bags and suitcases are packed, and off the Köpf tennis family heads towards Lake Constance for a short tennis break at the Krone Schnetzenhausen tennis hotel . Schnetzenhausen belongs to Friedrichshafen, the Zeppelin city on Lake Constance. Here, in the tri-border region where Germany, Austria, and Switzerland border Lake Constance, the lake, the surrounding mountains, and the vineyards and orchards offer a wonderful holiday destination. And this is especially true for us TennisTraveller , because with the Krone Schnetzenhausen, we've discovered a tennis hotel that, thanks to its cooperation with the Power the Ball tennis academy, is a real insider tip for a year-round tennis holiday.
Just a stone's throw from Stuttgart, a mere two-hour drive away, the impressive entrance of the 4-star superior hotel leads directly to its private underground parking garage. The hotel's lobby is equally impressive, and the reception staff offer a very warm welcome. Our rooms are in the Landhaus Krone , the newest of the four buildings. Both our double room and especially the family suite are extremely spacious, wonderfully cozy, and brightly furnished. The peaceful location is simply delightful; no wonder, since the hotel's own orchards begin right behind the Landhaus.
Since the food at the Krone has been highly praised TennisTraveller agree TennisTraveller 5-course menu is exceptionally delicious , beautifully arranged and presented, and the service is simply outstanding. Our two vegetarians especially appreciate that there's a separate vegetarian menu for the evening .

After a good night's sleep in wonderfully comfortable beds, we start Saturday with a leisurely breakfast offering everything one could wish for before heading into the tennis hall. At 10 a.m., we head to the hotel's indoor tennis center. Two courts with carpeted velour surfaces and Niki Ferrari , one of the two owners of the Power the Ball tennis academy, await us. After a warm-up with neuro-athletic exercises, the three kids immediately give it their all with Niki. They practice all the strokes, with Niki offering plenty of tactical tips. The two-hour training session flies by. Niki is incredibly motivating, captivating the kids from the very first minute and demonstrating various aspects of game tactics.
After a short lunch break, the afternoon continues with a 1.5-hour match training session supervised by Mathias Messmer , owner of the tennis academy. With his trained eye and years of experience, Mathias quickly identifies the children's strengths and weaknesses. Using the EFA method, apply mental routines during matches in a very specific and targeted way. Relaxing – Focusing – Accepting – with regular feedback from Mathias, the children experience their first successes immediately.
Meanwhile, I get to Diana Möller . Diana runs the Krone Schnetzenhausen together with her brother. Under their parents' management, the Krone has grown from a 10-room establishment to one of the leading hotels on Lake Constance, now boasting 145 rooms . For eight generations, it has maintained its reputation for excellent cuisine , extending far beyond the region, where regional and seasonal ingredients play a key role. Today, the hotel complex comprises four distinct buildings , all connected underground. Each building has its own unique character and style, yet everything is easily accessible. In conversation with Diana, her love for the hotel, its traditions, and her passion for hospitality is palpable. This spirit is embraced by every member of staff; it is of utmost importance. As a guest, you experience this in a very pleasant, professional, and understated way.
After tennis practice, it's time for us adults to relax in the wellness area. Besides a lovely indoor pool , there are two large log cabin saunas, a wonderful salt spa, a steam room, and an infrared cabin. The beautiful relaxation rooms, some with waterbeds, are perfect for unwinding! Meanwhile, the children are still active, working out in the fitness room on the cardio and strength training equipment.

The second evening meal was simply wonderful as well. We had the perfect end to our tennis day in the Kronenbar with a game of billiards and a cool cocktail from their seemingly endless cocktail menu.
On Sunday morning, the last two-hour training session was scheduled for 10 a.m. The young Albanian national player, Mario, kicked things off with a demanding warm-up. The rest of the training was also strenuous and very intense. The Power the Ball tennis academy has access to highly skilled coaches year-round, who are particularly involved in the coaching staff for the performance camps for ambitious young tournament players . A wonderful mix of experienced and young coaches, consistently at a very high level and covering a broad spectrum from technique and tactics to athleticism and mental aspects – just what a tennis academy should offer. In the summer, Power the Ball trains at the nearby tennis clubs in Immenstaad, Oberteuringen, and Ailingen, which boast a total of 23 clay courts , all easily and quickly accessible from the hotel. These clubs also host the summer sports camps for children – a multi-sport and creative week for kids, where, of course, tennis is not neglected.
After training, we packed our bags and checked out. Before heading back towards Stuttgart, we had to make a detour to Lake Constance. No problem from the Landhaus Krone – several lakeside beaches and charming towns were just a few minutes away. We chose Immenstaad and enjoyed some fresh lake air with a mountain panorama before heading home.
A thoroughly enjoyable tennis weekend with the family, featuring excellent training at the Power the Ball Tennis Academy in the Krone Tennis Hotel in Schnetzenhausen. A hotel we can wholeheartedly recommend. It's made us want to visit again in the summer, as Lake Constance is especially beautiful then, offering a wealth of leisure and relaxation opportunities!
Mathias Messmer, owner of the Power the Ball Tennis Academy, has given us a voucher for a children's sports camp . Experience five fantastic and varied days at one of the multi-sport summer camps between August 1st and September 9th, 2022. While your young tennis players are enthusiastically practicing on the court, you can explore the beautiful Lake Constance region. Whether on the water, by bike, or on foot – you'll be captivated by the "Swabian Sea" and its diversity!
